Ribose is found in ribonucleic acids ,free nucleotides , and some coenzymes . Phosphoric esters of ribose are formed in the body during the oxidation of glucose in the pentose phosphate cycle. When ribose is restored , the pyatatomic alcohol ribitol is released , which is part of some vitamins (for example, vitamin B 2 and coenzymes (FAD).
