Biochemistry
It was found that deoxyribonucleic acid mononucleotides , in addition to these carbohydrates, contain glucose. Purine or pirimimidine bases, ribose, deoxyribose and phosphoric acid are connected in the nucleotide molecules in the same way. Pentoses join the nitrogen of the bases through glycosidic bonds, in purine bases in the ninth position, in pyrimidine bases in the third. Purine bases Adenine Guanine (enol form) О Guanine (keto form) Pyrimidine bases Pentoses presented as ribose and deoxyribose (enol form) О Uracil (keto form) OH OH p-D-ribose OH H p-D-2-deoxyribose During the hydrolysis of mononucleotides, two types of products are formed: compounds of a nitrogenous base with pentose and free phosphoric acid or a nitrogenous base and pentose- phosphoric ether . In this case, the carbohydrate is located in the middle of the mononucleotide molecule, being a link between the nitrogenous base and phosphoric acid. 117
